Frequently Asked Questions

  • A lot of people are surprised that Physiotherapy assessments and follow up sessions can be completed online. Most people tend to think of physical, hands-on assessments of the injured area to get to the root of the issue and identify the problem. While this can be a useful part of the assessment, it really is only a very small piece of the pie that helps me to get to the bottom of things and identify what has been causing your difficulty.

In fact, I gain the majority of my clues from actually just speaking with you and learning about your specific context, when and how you became injured, if you can even identify that or if it just came on out of nowhere. We look at what’s been going on in your life the last few weeks or months, your lifestyle factors, stressors etc.

After that, I can observe you doing some different movements and specific tests. I might not be able to feel what your body is doing, but you can describe things for me, and I will be able to observe your reaction to things and identify if you’re hesitant to move or in pain etc.

All you need is a working camera and microphone, a quiet space to chat freely with a bit of free space so I can observe you doing a few exercises/movements etc. We will use an online software called Jane App, it’s pretty straight forwards, you can join via a direct link from your email.

You can make payments via Revolut or an online payment system.

If you have any additional concerns or questions about this please feel free to reach out.

  • You would be surprised but a lot of research has been done into these findings in recent years and the research has identified that even with these type of MRI results, many people are living pain free and have not experienced back pain, neck pain or shoulder pain in the past.

Similarly, some people with persistent unrelenting pain, can have very little show up on scans. This really shows us that pain is so complex and is more than just an issue in the tissue, it effects our whole system at multiple levels.

We need to respect what shows up on scans and definitely include them in our assessment and treatment process but they are not the be all and end all, just a piece of the pie.

Some people’s pain and injuries may require surgical intervention and others won’t. This depends on multiple factors. Irrespective of which category you fall under, this mode of treatment is still suitable for you.

Reale Recovery works holistically, taking into account all the potential factors which may be contributing to your pain. Whether you end up going for surgery or not, Reale Recovery sets you up for the best possible outcome by identifying potential barriers or road blocks which may slow your recovery.

If you are someone who feels like you’ve tried everything and you’re no better, this service is for you. It’s time to start looking at things differently. If you’re still on the fence, why not take up our offer on a free 20 minute discovery call, let’s see if we will be a good fit.

  • You don’t, but I am hoping that the content on my website, my social media, blog and free downloads will allow you to gain an deeper insight into the type of person that I am and what I represent. I am passionate about the work that I do, and believe in the importance of supporting people with their health. I truly believe that if we can support and educate people on their health knowledge gaps through scientific evidence based practice, then they have the capacity to make real and meaningful change.

I personally believe that change inevitably comes from within, I do not fix you, you fix yourself, and I am just a guide or confidante along the way, helping you to problem solve, make informed decisions, and educate yourself with high quality, up-to-date resources.

If this resonates with you and you think we would be a good fit together, please reach out and let’s have a chat.

  • I run a private business and place a certain value on the service that I provide. This enables me to continue to show up and give my best to each person in front of me. However, I would hate for money to be the only reason you don’t reach out and get the help you need and deserve.

If you would like to discuss payment plans please do make contact with me and let’s see if we can come up with a financial arrangement that suits us both.

Another option would be to join one of the group programs as these are priced a little lower and we could set up a monthly direct debit which might suit you better.

  • As I’m sure you have read all over my website by now, pain, fatigue and persistent symptoms are incredibly complex and are unique to everybody. No two people have the exact same experience so it is impossible for me to say to you right now I can 100% take your pain or fatigue away.

However, what I can promise you is that you will have a much deeper understanding of your body and its functioning after we finish working together. You will understand why these things are happening and you will have identified the barriers and roadblocks specific to you which may be impacting on your recovery. You will have the awareness of the lifestyle changes and management strategies to help you to overcome these roadblocks.

I can also promise you that your mindset and headspace around living with chronic and persistent symptoms will have improved and you will feel like you have a lot more agency and control over your situation. You will feel like you are back in the driving seat taking control of your health rather than your health dictating how you live your life.

You will feel competent in making personal health goals and adjusting and modifying your routines and goals according to how your body responds.

Many people who follow this framework do become painfree and feel like they are even better than before. However, not without putting in the work. This service is not for you if you are looking for a quick fix or a passive approach to your recovery. This requires consistently showing up for yourself, putting in the work, patience, commitment and an open mind. If you possess these qualities, you have the recipe for success and it is only a matter of time before you start to see results.

  • This is probably a very frustrating answer, but how long is a piece of string?! It really is so hard to give you an accurate reply here.

What I would say is that being open and transparent about things helps to speed up the process. If we are both on the same page from the get go, then we can get you the appropriate supports, help and guidance that you need early on.

Working as part of a team with your other healthcare professionals can really help speed up the process and ensure the best possible outcome for you. If there is anyone else in your medical team that you would like me to liaise with please let me know.

Exploring treatments and interventions you have had in the past and recognising what has and hasn’t worked for you, as well as being open minded to new possibilities and new approaches will ensure we avoid time wasting and dead ends.

The first place to start is working on your mindset and ensuring you are in the right headspace for change to happen. Many people might already be here without any help from me, and others might need to spend a little time exploring their beliefs about their condition/illness as well as figuring out what is within their control and what isn’t and therefore where they should best spend their time, energy and focus.

As with everything, your rehabilitation journey is as long as you would like it to be, you can decide to stop whenever you want or pause things if you feel you need to. However, for someone who has a lived experience of a chronic long term issue, I do recommend working together for a block of time to get the most out of your rehabilitation journey.

For some people this can look like weekly or fortnightly catch ups, for others it is more spread out. Some people like to do intensive blocks. It really can be whatever you feel you need and what works for you. If you are unsure of what would suit you, I can guide you on this and we can always reassess as we go along.

All we need to do is figure out where you are at right now and then ascertain where it is you would like to be. This journey can be as big, bold and brilliant as you would like it to be so make sure to let your imagination run away with you.

  • No, I will be recording the Pilates classes so if you cannot attend them live that is okay. You will have access to them for a period of time after so you can catch up at a time that suits your schedule.
